Apparently, Tonight’s the Night was originally refused airplay, in some quarters, because of:
You’d be a fool to stop this tide
Spread your wings and let me come inside
Pretty bad, but this is worse:
Don’t say a word my virgin child
Just let your inhibitions run wild
As for that first line, well, ewww. Double ewww.
As for the second, if you want the girl to loosen up, Rod, her inhibitions need to run away, or fly away. Or her passions need to run wild, or her desires should run wild. If her inhibitions run wild, that means she becomes really, really, crazily, unashamedly inhibited.
It’s your song, Rod, so I guess it’s your call. Maybe you like ’em that way.
